Where is Brownsberg situated?
About 130 km south of Paramaribo and west from the Blommenstein reservoir you will find the Brownsberg Nature park which is about 6000 hectares.
The Brownsberg area is wide en starts at the foot of the mountain. It’s a half moon-shaped buaxite plateau that reaches out at about 500m above the amazon forest which gives an amazing view over the Brokopondo reservoir and the wide forest. There’s a beautiful view of the wide jungle and the Blommenstein lake.
There are creeks cutting through the mountain that reach in waterfalls, There are trails through the forest that lead to the falls. The bio diversity of this park is high because it contains about 1450 different plants and over 350 different bird species like the grey-winged trumpeter, parrots and toucans. During the stroll through the forest there is a good chance you might see monkeys, frogs or land turtles. This park is a Centre for education and public awareness for nature reserve.
What will we do on this trip?
Early in the morning you will depart from Paramaribo by bus to Brownsberg. After about 2.5 hours the bus will stop at Mazaroni plateau. Here begins the extensive Amazon forest which is still virgin. The firm stroll with descending and ascending through the forest, is rewarded with a refreshing and relaxing natural massage underneath one of the waterfalls. Afterwards you will return back to the plateau where you can enjoy a delicious lunch and enjoy the forest sounds of the mountain with an amazing view over the reservoir.
You can spend the night to your liking. The overnight stay will be on Stone Island in beds with a musquito net. There is a possibility to have a boattrip on the reservoir. Please ask your guide for more information.

What is included?
Transportation by bus, all meals, snacks and fruit, water/flavoured water, juice, coffee/tea, overnight stay in houses/hammock with communal shower and toilet, tourguide (Dutch/English). You need to bring your own snacks.
